Zoomable Ultima 7 Map
One day back in 1985, we received a copy of a game called Ultima 3 at work. I was a partner in a games conversion business, doing conversions for the likes of US Gold, Ocean, PSS etc. None of us had ever seen a game like this and all work stopped for a day! I actually completed it, three months later.
Other games appeared in this series throughout the 80s and early 90s. A chap by the name of Ian Albert has taken the map from Ultima 7, and used Zoomify so you can see the complete map (it is 600 MB of data!) and zoom into details. The picture shows the full map and Lord Britain's castle zoomed in so you get an idea of the scale of zoom.
