World War I Colour Photos
James Clerk Maxwell, the Scottish mathematician and physicist developed the first colour photograph in 1861- at least the first one that didn't lose its colour but it wasn't really succesasful until the Lumiere brothers patented it in 1903 and Autochrome was unleashed on the world in 1907.
The French military took lots of photos in World War One and this photo and many others have been put on the web. They're definitely a view of a different time.
