UK Seismic Activity
The UK is a well known hot spot for extreme seismic activity. You think I'm joking? Well actually I am. Earthquakes are rare and as for volcanoes…forget it. There is some seismic activity- and the British Geological Survey keeps track of it on this part of their website.
The map shown lists a number of earthquakes which have macro seismic surveys. You can also see a list of recent earthquakes and Maltby in S. Yorkshire seems something of a hot spot with four quakes in April. As these are only 1.1 to 1.4 on the Richter scale I very much doubt if anyone noticed! There are about 8.000 quakes a day at under 2.0 on the scale in the world. More information about the Richter Scale here.
