UK Anti-Vetting – Manifesto Club
One way to take control of a society for the benefit of those 'in control' but to the detriment of those who form the bulk of the society is to introduce excessive and unneeded regulation. This is happening in the UK with an increasing requirement of people who work in some jobs to be vetted.
What first appears to be a good idea- ie to protect vulnerable people becomes a leash- it alienates the generations- woe betide any man who talks to a child in public these days unless he is related to them. You get airlines moving men from next to children on flights – there was a case where a stewardess tried to separate a man from his kids due to a mistake.
Other consequences of this misguided policy are to reduce the number of volunteers because they have to pay to be checked. And it is recognised that ex-offenders can bring a lot of wisdom and experience but they are ruled out.
The Mainfesto club has produced a 27 page PDF detailing why vetting is a bad idea. It's well worth a read.
