Trafalgar Square – Live Plinthers
Possibly qualifying for the most meaningless story title, the linked site (courtesy of Sky Arts) is a webcam showing several views and sounds of each of the 2,400 people who were successful in applying for an hour of glory. Each gets a designated hour to stand on the 4th plinth (the empty one on the north west square) in Trafalgar Square and do anything legal. 27,628 applied so it was a bit of a lottery.
The idea was the brainchild of artist Anthony Gormley and you can read about it here.
This is a 24 x 7 project over a 100 day period so if you’re in London in the early hours and can’t sleep, take a look! it’s on all night, every night.
