Subterranea Brittanica
There's quite a thrill associated with underground places, whether they be military bases, fallout shelters, old railroad or mine workings. This site collects information about these and other types across the UK.
Formed in 1974, Subterranea Britannica is a society devoted the the
study and investigation of man-made and man-used underground places. Given that it was the height of the cold war, it's quite understandible that people might have had an interest in safe places underground! There are also separate sections about the Royal Observer Corps 1563 observer points- needed to give accurate information about any nukes that hit Britain, and nuclear bunkers.
Fascinating stuff!
