See the World Differently
A project of (and hosted by) the University of Sheffield plus a University of Michigan Associate Professor, worldmapper is an interesting visualisation technique to display world statistics by showing countries scaled up according to the statistic. For air flights, N. America is much larger whereas for poverty Asia and Africa.
Each world map is coloured in 12 geographical regions. There are 212 different maps with more coming. What I particularlly like about this is they provide each map as an A4 poster (printable pdf) and all data is provided along with details of where they got it. It's an excellent educational resource.
