San Diego Zoomable Panorama
This is just amazing. On the linked site picture at the top is a panorama and you can zoom in using the controls at the bottom. You can also zoom into preset places- just click the links on the right hand side. There is a zoom slider (the triangle) at the top of the control panel. If you push it to the right, the picture zooms in to the view above (with the cow). I've highlighted the approx location with a tiny red square to give an idea of just how much viewable detail this picture contains.
The entire picture is 500 MB in size, it's huge but only the zoomed in bits are pulled from the server which is why it is so quick.
There are other zoomable panoramas on this site- the Las Vegas one is beautiful and you can zoom to many many of the famous 'Strip' hotels by links.
