Project Censored
Not all stories make it into the news. Some are deemed unnewsworthy or better ones break – that's the origin of "Drop the Dead donkey" (story). Others are excluded because they would bring down opprobrium on the newspaper etc and are self-censored.
Project Censored is a media research group working out out of Sonoma State University which tracks the news published in independent journals and newsletters. From these, Project Censored compiles an annual list of 25 news stories of social significance that have been overlooked, under-reported or self-censored by the country's major national news media.
Out of 700-1000 stories submitted each year, these are winnowed down to just the 25 best. Judge for yourself. Now where are the equivalent websites in the UK and EU?
