Power (er Station) to the People- Battersea
Battersea Power Station is one of London's lesser known Icons. Those twin stacks are recognisable. Now it has a web site devote dto it's future as well as giving a history and information about its past. Reusing old power stations is a popular trend. The Tate gallery on bankside is one.
Battersea opened as a power station in 1935 and closed down nearly 25 years ago in 1983. The Community group is a commercial organisation overseeing it's future. There is a link to an e-petition to try and stop demolition of the chimneys. If you want to keep seeing those distinctive chimney, sign it.
