Pandora- Finding Music You Like
Pandora is an interesting concept. By identifying over 400 attributes for songs, they try and find music that matches another song or artist. They've mapped these attributes for I'd guess thousands of songs and artists. Each song takes a trained person about 20 minutes to put on Pandora. They do take new artists but I'd guess have to be selective.
There's free and paid subscriptions. Because of the stupid music licensing situation (requiring licences in each country) Pandora technically only works for US residents. This is done by entering a zip code so I guess there are probably a lot of Beverley Hills members! (Old TV Program- Beverley Hills 90210). It does seem to work quite well and the level of sophistication of the music matching is interesting. You can find out more about that by listening to the Podcasts or reading it on the site.
