Paleomap Project- How the world has changed over 1,100 million years
Now this is interesting though can't see myself being around to check the future predictions. We know that the world a few hundred million years ago was a different shape. Continents move a few millimetres each year and over a period of this length that amounts to quite a distance. It's believed that one big continent Pangea existed then.
The goal of the PALEOMAP Project is to illustrate the plate tectonic development of
the ocean basins and continents, as well as the changing distribution of land and sea
during the past 1100 million years using simple 3D palaeographic illustrations.
You can also look forward to Pangea ultimate in 250 million years time. Fascinating stuff and very nicely illustrated.
