This is an amazingly lovely looking colection of nearly 100 Open Source Flash animation experiments. Just click the image to go to a webpage for that animation with downloadable (fre) source code.

E.G. The second one pictured is fractal invaders. If you take a 3 x 5 (15 bits) rectangle and permute all the possibilities you get 215 combinations = 32768 different patterns. By taking some of these patterns and rotating about the vertical axis so it is 5 not 3 bits wide you get invader type shapes. Its easy to see it in action than explain it! But a fascinating site even if you aren't into Flash development.
