Online Data Backup
With the advent of broadband, and Googles generous 2GB+ free email storage as an example, there are now several onlin backup systems. Mozy is one – either free (paid for by advertising) or a monthly subscription. After signing up you get a 2Mb download (Windows only for now) which installs a service.
They are red hot on security with 128 bit encryption for sending stuff and 448 bit for storage on their servers. After installing the service, Mozy did a quick scan (unnoticeable) and offered to backup all my email, documents etc with the option to select/deselect. I elected to have it trickle feed when the CPU wasn't busy.
Link (to Mozy Website, including referrer ID)
Admission. Normally all links on portent are pure- without referrers. But this one includes a referrer link. If you click it and signup, Portent gets a bit more free storage. If you don't like this, just go direct to Mozy.com
