Movie Cliches Website!
If you've ever seen an actor give the exact change for a taxi or find somewhere to park straight away, you'll have seen movie cliches. Spaceships making noises as they zoom past (in the vacuum of space!!) or even seeing laser beams in space.
I reckon these happen because directors have to preserve every minute. Five minutes while someone tries to find a parking spot would be bad. So they take short cuts and hope we don't notice. Well bad news- we have!
There are loads of great cliches on the site. Eg "Whichever tree branch the hero has perched on, the villain will invariably pause under" or "No matter how dead you think you've killed a bad guy, he can still get up at least 3 more times. Therefore, always make sure to leave his gun in or near his hand after you've killed him and you turn away to comfort the girl."
Being a film buff, I of course love this stuff.
