Matchstick Marvels Museum
Everyone has seen the odd matchstick building or ship. The effort of hundreds or more likely thousands of hours. A US matchstick artist Patrick Acton from Iowa has been doing this as a hobby for the best part of the last 30 years. For the first ten years he was buying normal matches but found out then that he could bulk buy, presumably before the tips were added!
If you visit Gladstone Iowa you can see many of the 60 models that he's built, in a museum there.
It's interesting to read how many matchsticks went into each model. From 15,000 in a P51 Mustang to 602,000 in Harry Potter's Hogwarts.
There's a completely different use for matches here. (Confession- it's on my personal website!)
