70 Years ago, an English sailor Jack Hall collected spent matches and created some unique and playable musical instruments in his spare time on board. The instruments included banjos, mandolins, ukuleles, violins and guitars and took between 10,000 and 25,000 matches each as well as cases for them and bows to play them. He lavished special care on the look of the instruments as can be seen in the picture above.

There are ten playable musical instruments created from 106,000 used matches. These instruments have been played by Lord Yehudi Menuin and Glen Campbell who found them to be terrific instruments.
