Magnifying a Snow Flake
While on the subject of snow, (and see the earlier snowflake museum story on Portent) these series of photos are jolly good. there are 8 in all, each showing a magnified section of the previous one. The first shows a complete snowflake at 94 x magnification-the last is 36,000x! It takes a few seconds to download but have patience.
Thankfully it hasn't snowed in London yet else the beloved London Underground might freeze up. The reason is that considerable chunks of London's Underground are not in fact underground but out in the open!
