Looking into the Sun!
Science has always had keen "amateurs" as well as the fulkltime paid professionals. I'm not in anyway knocking these unpaid, intensely keen individuals. Remember Shoemaker-Levy 9 – the comet that hit Jupiter? The Levy in that (David Levy) is an amateur astronomer who has spotted 22 comets (independently or with the ShokeMakers- Eugene and Carolyn). Also Thomas Jefferrson, Arthur C Clarke, Michael Faraday and Joseph Priestley are but some of the names oif amateurs who became famous.
Well Michael Mozina is another amateur (I believe- correct me if I'm wrong) with a "heliocentric" interest. He is interested in the sun and its composition. There is a theory that the sun is not just gas but solid iron and other chemicals. See for yourself on his site.
