Russia has a very old history, going back a long way before the Soviet era. This site by Nataliy Kovarskaya and Alexey Grif is a compilation of Interactive panoramas (in Quicktime, Deval VR and Java) of palaces, museums, parks, fortresses and historic places and buildings in St Petersburg.

The panoramas are excellent, full of colour and of course being interactive lets you pan 360 degrees as well as zooming in and out. They really make me want to visit them!
