This looks beautiful. A detailed simulation of flight in space with the Space Shuttle. It includes a detailed virtual cockpit with working Multi-Function Displays and payload bay operations, multiple camera operations, rendering of planet surfaces, realistic physics such as planetary motion, gravitation effects, free space and atmospheric flight are accurately modelled.
Plus you can land your ship at a space port on a planet surface, or dock to an orbital station and view high resolution planetary maps provide some nice visual effects.
I haven’t installed this yet, so this is by way of a preview. I’ll return to this.

Canut Ki In is a Go club in Lyons, France and they have a website. The website is (quell surprise!) in French though if you go to google and click language tools you can view it in a reasonably translated English.
Go is the board game from East Asia (both Japan and China) and is easy to play but very hard to master. One of the key concepts of the game is zones of influence and this site has an simulator that demonstrates this. There is also a more dynamic version here, where every click puts down a black piece then a white piece. Interesting stuff and if you are learning to play, you might find this of interest.

If you’ve seen the film Dawn of the Dead or even Sean of the Dead, you’ll be familiar with Zombies. Now you can have a Screen of the Dead.
Conceptually, Zombies are just clearly a metaphor for Pensioners. Just think of the similarities- they walk slowly, froth at the mouth, and if you have to look after one they take over your life. They consume you. Everyone turns into one sooner or later.
This is a Zombie simulator using the Processing language, covered before on portent. I think adding a few more Zombies would make it more interesting…and why is everyone running when there is only one Zombie on screen? So it’s interesting but could be improved a bit. Having said that, the source code is available.

It’s less than a month since I was on a couple of roller coasters at Blackpool pleasure beach and a fortnight since the same on Clacton-on-sea so this is kind of topical. You’ll need Java installed. It takes a few seconds to load and the programmer obviously enjoys writing ‘Please wait’ type messages!
This isn’t meant to be Roller Coaster Tycoon but it is a fun diversion, and it has a serious side and lets you change speed, mass, the size of the hills, even gravity and friction! If there are 4 people in a car then I think I reached serial murderer status with 24 dead. Just be glad I’m not a real life designer!
