Link to Video of LED FanThe links go to a youtube video of the fan in action. Unless it was a fridge I doubt you’d find anything er cooler! There are 42 LEDs and through careful timing, you can program all sorts of animated graphical effects. I suspect that you need to be half decent at programming it- it comes with 5MB of storage and you need a serial port. Also, it costs $389 from here.

If that is beyond your budget they also sell a cheaper ($5.00) hand held fan that can have up to 6 messages.

Link to Steampunk CentipedeThis is both bizarre looking and a remarkable piece of engineering. It’s a steam powered locomotive with a centipede like locomotion method. It’s not a fake, there is a video on the linked page that shows in being operated by remote control.

Steampunk is a genre of writing that posits Victorians with advanced technology based on steam and coal not oil. The steamtoys page on this site shows many other marvellous mechanical steam driven beasties including the steam driven ancestor of R2D2!

Link to Diesel Photos WebsiteAnd they don’t come any bigger than this awesome monstrosity that weighs 2300 for the 14 cylinder version. Sure it only does 102 RPM max, and yes it drinks fuel at an inordinate rate- but it does produce 108,920 hp.

Yes that is a man standing between cylinders 4 and 5- this is a very big engine. Each cylinder stroke is 98″. This is a Wartsila-Sulzer RTA96-C turbocharged two-stroke diesel engine produced by Japan Diesel Co in 6-14 cylinder versions. Big container ships use them.
