I’m now part of About.com!
In fact I've been building the C/C++ (and C#) topic on there for the last two months, back before portent.org was conceived. I applied at the end of May, was accepted for the training/test in June, had 17 days to prepare the skeleton of the site up to their standards. I passed that test. Two months later, the site has had a lot more stuff added to it and went live yesterday.
About.com is owned by the New York Times newspaper and has several hundred websites on most subjects under the sun, each written by an expert. They are always looking for new writers on certain subjects and did I mention that they pay? Want to know more? Have a look here.
