Gliffy – Visio Online
The move towards running software on the web, in browsers rather than on desktops continues with the recent launch of Google's office suite and now Gliffy for drawing diagrams. Personally I'm not entirely attracted to this route as it depends upon a working internet connection to a site that is hopefully not too popular (and thus slowed up by traffic). Plus you end up, not with all of your important stuff in one place on your Pc but scattered across different websites. Unless of course someone like Google buys them up which is always a possibility.
Glifffy is a free Flash drawing package so technically it is running on your computer but everything saves to the Gliffy website. It lets you create Flowcharts, UI wireframes, Floor plans, Network diagrams, UML
diagrams, or any other simple drawings or diagrams and comes with lots of pre-drawn symbols. The examples do look very good and this works on Mac, Linux as well as Windows. If you've used Microsoft Visio, you'll feel at home with what Gliffy has to offer. A big plus is that you can share drawings with others (who can also work on them). There's a demo video so you can see what it does.
