Free EBook - Having Fun with Google
Philipp Lenssen writes google blogoscoped, a wonderful blog about google and search that is rarely dull. He has produced a book "55 Ways to have fun with Google" that is being self published through lulu.com (a very modern self-publishing venture). He has also made the book available as a downloadable pdf or a word doc and you are free to remix, share, do as you will, just not sell copies. If you know someone techy, the printed book would make a very nice pressy.
The 228 book covers everything pretty much everything you can do to have fun with google (I suppose if you work there you can find a few more things!). From searching for your name, or contests to get search results placed highest for phrases like Mangeur de Cigogne., Schnitzelmitkartoffelsalat, Haltezeitmessungen and others. The most famous phrase searched for is "Nigritude Ultramarine" (It means dark blue). Also the odd easter egg. If you enter this phrase "answer to life, the universe and everything" in to google, you don't really expect to get 42 as the first result .. yet it does!
There is far too much to cover in this book, so go take a look or better still buy a copy for a friend or yourself. It's terrific (and no he is not paying me anything to say that!)
