Dinez Dans le Noir!

Ever wondered what it would be like to be blind? Ever had fantasies about being blindfolded and led astray? Well, now you can stop wondering and add a new experience to your life!
One of the latest additions to the London restaurant map is Dans le Noir in Clerkenwell Green. The concept is French. The aim is to challenge your senses, raise awareness of the challenges blind people face, and to raise money for Blind Charities. The restaurateur, Edouard de Broglie, says he is interested in the sensory, rather than the social, aspects of dining. In Dans le Noir, which is French for ‘in the dark,’ you are served by blind waiters and eat your food in complete darkness. You are guaranteed a unique dining experience as, robbed of your sight, your other four senses are heightened.
When you arrive, you order your meal and have a drink in the lounge area. You can choose your courses off a set menu, or opt to eat blind. This means that you don’t know what you are being served, and will have to guess what it is you are eating. You literally become blind, and you will have to trust your waiter to guide you. When your table is ready, you are led into the darkness by your waiter who shows you where your cutlery and glass are. If you need anything you call your waiter’s name and wait for assistance.
Because the room is pitch black, not just dimly lit, you cannot see anything in there. You will lose your sense of orientation, you cannot see the other guests or the food on your plate. You are bound to lose a fork, lose your napkin and spill some food or wine. But you are also bound to get a quite extraordinary experience.
Looking forward to a blind date on my birthday, babes… =)
