Degree Confluence Project
This is so mad it just might work. Imagine you could visit every integer latitude and longitude. Ie 53 degrees, 54 degrees etc north and 3 degrees east, 4 degrees etc and take a photo. These points of intersection are called confluences. They are further divided into primary and secondary according to nearness of lines of longitude (at the poles ) and whether it is on land or sea.
Well over 30% of the confluences have been visited and photographed! There are currently
4924 successful, primary, confluences,458 secondary confluences, 317 incomplete confluences,9373 visitors and 62148 photographs in
173 countries.
The picture shows the UK map of confluences.
