Readability – Ingenious JavaScript Aid to Reading
Readability is a very clever bit of JavaScript that you bookmark, it’s called a bookmarkelet. Then when you go to a page say from a news site, you drag the bookmarklet to the page and readability reflows it, changes the font etc to turn it into much more readable text.
I tried it on Portent so the most recent story was underneath and got this which is definitely clearer!

Fantastic JavaScript Defender Clone
Though the title is from Star Wars, the game design is the old Defender game where aliens are capturing humans and taking them into space.
This would be well done in Flash but for JavaScript it’s excellent with what looks like 50 or 60 moving objects on screen (explosions bullets etc) and a parallax scrolling mountains. I’d also suggest you try it in the chrome browser because that has a very fast JavaScript engine. i have only one minor criticism and that is you can easily miss the ship at the start (it’s in the bottom left corner- blends in well with the mountains!). If you really need it, read the game overview on his blog.

20 Things I learned Website
This is both beautiful and educational. It’s a website done as the pages of a book complete with flipping pages that you can drag. The technology is very modern all CSS, JavaScript and HTML5. No flash at all. It displays and works well in an iPad apart from the page dragging.
Expect to see more of these technologies. If it doesn’t work in Internet Explorer, use Chrome or get IE 9 when it comes out.

Scrabbly- Massive Online Crossword
This is well implemented and looks really nice. It’s a massive collaborative crossword er sort of word game that anyone can do. Just pick a spot and start adding words.
It’s sort of similar but obviously nothing like the game that the domain suggests! That would be so wrong and a certain very big company would get very very upset.
Interesting as well that it’s written using JavaScript, not Flash.
