Sugru – Wonder Material
Invented by an Irish ex school teacher Jane Ní Dhulchaointigh, Sugru is an interesting compound that you can use to repair everyday things that have broken. If you are used to using sellotape or superglue then this may be a whole lot better.
Sugru bonds like glue to ceramics, leather, metals, plastics and wood: however, rather than harden it maintains a flexible form after being attached to a surface. There’s a large gallery of photos of things fixed with it. Clever stuff!

Robotic Curtain Privacy

This is an excellent video; a camera with motion detection tracks people walking past a window and moves a small piece of curtain (mounted on a motorized curtain rail that’s controlled by software running on a computer).
The curtain moves along with the person so even though it’s pretty narrow, it stops them seeing in. It’s pretty entertaining! The link below goes to the artist’s page.

Amazing Self Built Clock
Marcel Betrisey is a Swiss maker of clocks, pendulums and watches. L'Anachrone pictured is a big mechanical clock that took 18 months to build and has 1600 parts, weighs 300 kilos (660 pounds) and uses 95 ball bearings. A pendulum swings to let one ball drop and well you can read the rest of the description on his website.
Thisis a very impressive piece of work. You can watch a video of it as in action. I bet it’s quite noisy with all those steel balls in motion.
