There are 71 recorded voices and 600 short clips of speech from people across the UK, England, Wales, Scotland and N. Ireland. Click any one on the zoomable, draggable flash map and you can hear them speak as well as getting a detailed decsription of their accent and history.

This is very well done and shows that there is very wide variation, even just a few miles apart. Fascinating stuff.
