Belfast – 8th Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival
By coincidence I'll be in N. Ireland while this is on so will be attending some of the events that occur between May 3rd and 13th. This isn't the main Belfast festival but a smaller though no less important one based near St Annes Cathedral- a place notable only in that as part of a choir- I once sang there – in 1976. And the first nights events all all free!
It includes a strong comedy programme with Tony Robinson, better known
as Blackadders’ Baldrick in a hilarious talk about his career, and stand-up
stars Reginald D Hunter, Richard Herring, Scott Capurro, Kevin McAleer, Phil Kay, Frank Sidebottom and the Glaswegian landlady turned comedienne, Janey Godley, as well as music from the likes of Geno Washington (and ex Dexy's Midnight Runners lead singer Kevin Rowland (Wonder if he'll sing "Wooo- Geno"!) and lots more including someone called Dylan (yup him!) and a local lad called Van Morrison.
The Festival will also screen an episode of Star Trek– The Higher Ground, never shown on
UK terrestrial television due to its references to Ireland.
