Banksy- Subversive British Artist
Robert Banks (or Banksy) as he is known is an artist who started as an anti (anti-war, anti-establishment) with graffiti and then his trademark stencil style. He has been responsible for a series of stunts where he places subverted art (copies of original work but altered to show his message).
In May 2005 his version of a primitive cave painting depicting a human figure hunting wildlife whilst pushing a shopping trolley was found hanging in the British Museum, London. Upon discovery, the museum added it to their permanent collection!
There's no doubt that he is an original but this year has seen record prices for his work so the question is, is he becoming part of the establishment?
