Art Depicting Statistics
Every fifty seconds in the US, 106,000 aluminium cans of drink are consumed. But how big is 106,000? One way is to use a can for every pixel in the painting at the top. Can't see the cans in the top picture? Look at the middle one- that is what lies under the red square in the top. The cans in the bottom picture are part of the umbrella top (in the red square) in the middle.
These are just one out of of several sets depicting statistics. This is an ingenious way of visualizing those statistics. All produced by photographer Chris Jordan.
