Amazing National Statistics Collection
Nationmaster has compiled data from a large number of sources (CIA Factbook, Wikipedia etc) and make it very easy to find out lots of statistics eg which country has most soldiers per head of population (N. Korea). It's also full of factiods like "62% of Bulgarians describe themselves as either 'not very' or 'not at all' happy.". If you're a geography teacher this site should definitely be in your favourites. I think most people will find it interesting.
As NBC News says about Nationmaster "A massive online database that lets you graphically compare nations in thousands of ways. Whether it be olympic medals, soldiers or cell phones, this site searches more than 4,000 files and draws graphs and charts that are simply astounding…"
One to bookmark. Oh and they've just launched Statemaster about the US States. With stats on everything from toothless residents to percentage of carpoolers.
