AlexaDex - Online Share Game
I've started playing in this. Yes I know I'm a big kid. AlexaDex is a share buying and selling game dealing in website domains according to how much traffic they get. More traffic = higher share prices. But how do they measure traffic? They get that data from Alexa.com who are owned by Amazon. They measure how much traffic a website gets, through the Alexa toolbar and/or also an addin for firefox. Portent has a current Alexa rating of 95,738 - the lower this is the better. About.com, who I write for on http://cplus.about.com has a rating of 95 at the moment. Ie they are in the top 100 websites by traffic.
Markets like this provide a way for people to ascertain information. If enough people are buying a stock in x then it is because x is seen as a big growth. If a website on Alexadex gets a lot of buyers (hint!), I bet it will get extra traffic! So go on, sign up and buy Portent! Buy Buy Buy! <g>
